Explore India through a Buddhist lens with Harriet Grey Expeditions
Set out on an adventure across India, a remote Buddhist kingdom ringed by soaring Himalayan peaks.
Unforgettable local culture unchanged for centuries – India is an exceptional part of the world.
Matching the incredible natural beauty is a unplaceable sense of calm and tranquility that lays the foundations for self-discover and inner peace. It’s no surprise nor secret that Buddhists and healers of all creeds have made their way to the sacred in search of knowledge and wisdom.
At Harriet Grey, we bring all of that together with our Indian expeditions, giving you a taste of the exceptional and the mystic – and helping you discover more about yourself and your path on the way.
Our Indian expedition takes in the immaculate panoramas of this incredible region, bringing visitors to the heart of what makes the area such an exceptional destination. Explore five Unesco World Heritage sites, including the incredible Taj Mahal. Cruise the Ganges river at sunrise to witness ancient Hindu rituals, and prepare a meal with locals. Spot leopards, birds and perhaps a tiger on safari.
We go beyond just the natural beauty of India to meet the people and the cultures and religions that call this unique place home. We’ll meet the native people and find out about their unique way of life, we’ll find out about Buddhism and healers that has developed here over the centuries and we’ll visit historic villages that haven’t changed in decades.
A big part of our experience you’ll get the opportunity to meet with leading Buddhist figures in Dharamshala, which give visitors the chance to look deep inside themselves in tranquil surroundings to embark on a voyage of self-discovery. Along the way, we’ll help you benefit from millennia of teachings about the beauty of the world and the self.
Rise early morning to see the Taj Mahal’s marble sparkle in the dawn light. Constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, the Taj Mahal is often described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love.
Observe Hindu rituals and prayer ceremonies on evening and sunrise boat rides on the Ganges . Visit Sarnath where Lord Buddha preached his first ceremony.
